Computer-based studies of structure formation and material properties of soft and solid-state matter from  the atomistic to the macroscopic length scale.

  • Investigated materials:
    Colloidal quasicrystals, colloid-polymer composite materials (with a focus on anisotropic colloids), self-organizing polymer networks, filament networks, thermoelectrics, thin film solar cells, vesicles.
  • Methods:
    Monte-Carlo and Molecular Dynamics simulations, continuum methods, self-consistent meanfield theory, ab-initio density functional theory, phase field theory.
