The research activities of the group of Prof. Werner Köhler are centered around transport processes in fluids and in soft matter. In particular, we are interested in:

  • Soreteffekt in simple fluids
    Isotope- and pseudo-isotop effect, thermophobicity
  • Transport in polymers and colloids
Thermophoresis of polymers and colloids, critical mixtures, spinodal decomposition, transient networks, transport processes in the vicinity of the glass transition, structure formation
  • Ternary mixtures
    Diffusion, cross diffusion und thermodiffusion
  • Nonequilibrium fluctuations
Long-ranged nonequilibrium fluctuations in the presence of temperature and concentration gradients, fluctuating hydrodynamics
  • Optical techniques
Transient holographic gratings, light scattering, interferometry, microscopy, multi-color techniques, shadowgraphy
  • Microgravity experiments
